Agency Founder Runs New York Marathon for Foyle Hospice

We launched Converse Aid in November 2007 with the aim to support good causes locally and globally through donations, fundraising activities and public relations support.

Agency founder, Donal Doherty, took to the streets of New York in November 2007 to run the New York Marathon for the Foyle Hospice to launch the initiative. With over £3,000 raised so far the future is bright for Converse Aid.

Future projects include community projects with members of the Converse team donating ½ day each month to a local charity of their choice. In addition 2008 will see the launch of a project aimed at raising literacy and education in the developing world. Agency founder, Donal Doherty comments on the initiative: ‘The marathon was a great experience and I feel that people should always strive for excellence in both their professional and personal life. By working to help local and global initiatives I believe Converse Aid can make a difference.’

St Columba's Primary School Fashion Show

During April, St Columba’s Primary School, Newbuildings, with the help of Converse Models, presented a fun and stylish fashion show to raise funds for the school. The night saw pupils and teachers take to catwalk showcasing the spring/summer trends from Dunnes Stores, Foyleside. An exciting raffle with prizes ranging from gift vouchers for Halo Restaurant, The Gate Lodge and a makeup treatment from talented make-up artist Katie Bell ensured the night was a great success raising over £600 in the process.

Fit 4 Fashion

Converse Group teamed up with students from the University of Ulster this month to present Fit 4 Fashion, a harity fashion show in aid of 23 students who will cycle across Belarus helping those affected by the Chernobyl disaster on their way. Converse latest signing Laura Doherty hosted the night, with entertainment provided by local median Mickey Bartlet and new-band-about-town Atmosphere. Students from the university took to the catwalk with models from Converse showcasing clothes from Chocolate, Fosters, Kular, Austins, Alphabet, Jack& Jones, Claries ormal Wear and local designer Jarayd F*. Top hair and beauty salon, Syenna, took charge of the hair and makeup and did not disappoint with the stylish and contemporary look they created for the show.

One of the University of Ulster students who will travel to Belarus, Pamela Daly, was delighted by the large turn out. She comments:
“We are overwhelmed with how well the evening turned out, and would like to thank all the retailers, Syenna and Converse, who have all been great to work with. We managed to raise £1,100 of much needed funds from the event. Every contribution is greatly appreciated and will go to such a worthy cause.”
